Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Gov. Alex Otti has gifted a 15-year-old Abia -born Miss Grace John Nkpa, who won the TechGirls 2025 contest, $5000 to represent Abia State in the United States of America. Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, announced this during a press briefing in Unuahia. He said Miss Nkpa had earlier been presented to the Governor for an Executive handshake, explaining that Otti’s administration will continue to encourage hard-work and excellence. The Commissioner said Miss Nkpa’s brilliant performance was an eloquent testimony of the standard of education offered in Abia.

Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia After years of controversy, the Federal Government has finally pegged entry admission year into Nigeria tertiary institutions at age 16. This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, while declaring open the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in Abuja. According to him, the official age limit is not negotiable. He warned that any admission conducted outside of the Central Admission Processing System, CAPS, would be illegal and perpetrators would be prosecuted. The Minister further warned that Heads of institutions found engaging in admission fraud would have prosecution.

According to JAMB, the decision was taken at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, with stakeholders from various tertiary institutions in attendance.
