Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Joint security operatives in Anambra State have repelled an attack on a checkpoint in Isuofia community, Aguata Local Government Area. Isuofia is the hometown of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo. In the attack, two of the armed hoodlums were killed, while one officer was fatally wounded, and an operational vehicle set ablaze. Ben Ezechime, Enugu  The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has revealed that Enugu State is lagging behind in its loan applications ranking 33rd out of 36 in the entire Federation. This revelation was made Thursday as NELFUND launched a major sensitisation in Enugu State to drive awareness and increase student participation in the Federal Government’s interest-free Students Loan scheme. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The fight against infant mortality has received a major boost following the discovery that azithromycin has proved efficacious in reducing infant childhood deaths. This was the outcome of the Safety and Anti-microbial Resistance of Mass Administration of Azithromycin, SARMAAN, phase one pilot project which formally ended nationwide. Abia State representing the South-East zone, was selected as one of the six pilot states in the country for the project. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Police in Anambra State have confirmed the gruesome murder of two individuals at Egbebelu village, Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state. Ikengaonline learned that the incident occurred at around 10:45 am on Thursday.
