Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki At least five persons have died in Ebonyi as a bus filled with passengers caught fire. The incident, it was learned, happened in Abakaliki, capital of the state, along the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway near G-hostel junction.  It was not immediately clear where the bus was coming from into the city. Sources said the bus was coming into the state at around 20 minutes past midnight when it caught fire. Police spokesperson in the state, Joshua Ụkandu, confirmed the incident. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Professor Humphrey Nwosu, former National Electoral Commission (NEC) Chairman from 1989 to 1993, has passed away aged 83. He  reportedly died in a hospital in Virginia, USA.  His death occurred months after the House of Representatives urged President Bola Tinubu to honour him for his role in conducting what is considered the most credible presidential election in Nigeria’s post-independence history. Then-military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida, had appointed Nwosu to oversee the June 12, 1993 election.
