Ben Ezechime, Enugu  The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has revealed that Enugu State is lagging behind in its loan applications ranking 33rd out of 36 in the entire Federation. This revelation was made Thursday as NELFUND launched a major sensitisation in Enugu State to drive awareness and increase student participation in the Federal Government’s interest-free Students Loan scheme. The awareness programme, which held in Enugu, attracted participants including heads of public and private tertiary institutions across the state. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Four persons have been sentenced to death by hanging by the Ebonyi State High Court, Ohaukwu Judicial Division, after being found guilty of conspiracy and murder of a twenty six year old young man, Mr. Chinonso Elom. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The fight against infant mortality has received a major boost following the discovery that azithromycin has proved efficacious in reducing infant childhood deaths. This was the outcome of the Safety and Anti-microbial Resistance of Mass Administration of Azithromycin, SARMAAN, phase one pilot project which formally ended nationwide. Abia State representing the South-East zone, was selected as one of the six pilot states in the country for the project. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Court of Appeal Enugu Division,  on Thursday affirmed the judgment of Justice R O  Riman of the Federal High court Abakaliki, nullifying the conduct of Local Government election in Ebonyi State. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Police in Anambra State have confirmed the gruesome murder of two individuals at Egbebelu village, Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state. Ikengaonline learned that the incident occurred at around 10:45 am on Thursday. Eyewitnesses had it that a gang of suspected armed men operating on a motorcycle carried out the brutal killings without facing any opposition from security operatives in the state. Ike Nnachi,  Abakaliki Over 50 lives have been lost in 2025 due to canoe accidents on the Enyim/Oyongo River, the only means of crossing between the Benue and Ebonyi border communities. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka A group known as Anambra Patriots for Soludo has flagged-off the ‘Rebrand Anambra’ project to promote decency and hygiene around markets in the State. The project was flagged-off at the popular Coca-cola market in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the State.
