Ugo Nosiri, Owerri Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, has convened a security meeting with the stakeholders of Avu, Okolochi, Eziobodo, and Ihiagwa communities in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The Enugu State Government has faulted claims of demolitions and forceful ejection of residents of Nchatancha Nike, one of the many communities affected by the ongoing construction of New Enugu City, a smart city flagged off by Governor Peter Mbah last October. This was after a crucial meeting with the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, in Abuja. Umahi convened the meeting following the skyrocketing price of cement due to the soaring inflation rate in the country. The manufacturers reportedly agreed to sell a 50kg bag of cement at a retail price between N7,000 and N8,000, depending on location. Anambra State Government confirmed her detention to journalists on Monday. Ugo Nosiri, Owerri The dry season characterised by high temperature, wind, low humidity and dryness of the soil and air has been said to be one of the reasons for the increase of fire outbreaks. The Controller, Federal Fire Service, Imo State Command, Mr. Felix Elozieuwa, while comparing the incidents of fire outbreaks of 2013 to that of 2024, also blamed the fire incidents on some human activities. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has approved the recruitment of 2,600 youths into the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS). The approval aims to enhance the capacity of security agencies in the State to fight banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminalities, especially those committed within the forests.
