Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia  A former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has refuted media reports that he was making moves to  succeed the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Ohakim who dismissed the media reports as fake news said he had no interest in Ohanaeze presidency. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Major streets and markets in Anambra State were deserted on Monday as residents ignored a sit-at-home threat issued by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the state.  It would be recalled that Soludo, while addressing traders at Onitsha Main Market penultimate Monday threatened to seal markets and shops if they continue to observe sit-at-home in the state. Soludo, during the inspection visit, also said he would be visiting markets every Monday to inspect business activities. Ugo Nosiri, Owerri  Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have  arrested an On Air Personality and rights advocate, Mr Chinonso Uba, also known as Nonsonkwa,  The Command explained that the suspect was not abducted, but  currently detained at the State Headquarters and would be arraigned in court with appropriate charges once a comprehensive investigation was completed.  In a release signed by the Command’s Spokesperson in the state,  Henry Okoye, the arrest follows a written petition from a concerned citizen regarding viral videos, where Mr Uba engaged in cyberstalking, character defamation, spreading misinformation and inflammatory statements. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia  Economic, commercial and other activities were completely paralysed in Abia State on Monday as residents stayed indoors in total compliance with the Monday sit-at-home. Both Umuahia, the state capital, and Aba the economic capital, were on their knees as the streets were deserted and the roads empty. Markets also did not open while motor parks were equally deserted. The African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) has commended Dr Ishaq Salako, Minister of State for Environment, for ordering the reinstatement of a whistleblower, Abraham Taiwo Joseph, a senior accountant at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) who was dismissed from service in September 2021 for raising concerns on abuse of office and other illegal practices at the institute.
