By Dave Chukwuji Nigeria, a country rich in resources and resilient people, has been held back by a pervasive and debilitating issue, corruption. This problem has become so entrenched in discussions around governance and development that it’s almost lost its shock value. However, recent statements from Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), shed light on a critical aspect: corruption often goes unpunished in Nigeria. This impunity is, perhaps, a greater tragedy than corruption itself, as it signals a moral decay that permeates the very fabric of society. During a recent visit from the House Committee on…
By Nnamdi Elekwachi I do not know why David Hundeyin, an exiled Nigerian investigative journalist, profoundly seeks disclosures on Tinubu’s dossiers securely and confidentially held in the US by the CIA, as he alleged. But my little understanding of the dynamics and workings of international politics pushes me to curiously ask: what does the CIA know about Bola Tinubu, as a foreign national, that it does not want Nigerians to know? During his exile in the same America, Nasir El Rufai, who was watch listed during the Yar’Adua years, furnished, I think, the same CIA with information on Yar’Adua, a…

Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Victor Osimhen’s equaliser in the final minutes of the 2025 AFCON qualifying clash between Nigeria and Benin Republic made Nigeria finish top of Group D. Benin opened scoring on the 16th minute and this threatened to drag the push for the winner of the group to the final matchday. Gernot Rohr’s side held their own and defended well, but Osimhen rose highest in the 81st minutes to head home Moses Simon’s cross to give Nigeria an unassailable points lead in group D. Nigeria will now head into the final group game against Rwanda with that assurance and…
