Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has ordered a Port Harcourt based Lawyer, Azubuike Ihemeje, to pay the sum of N150m to another Lawyer, Chimezie Okpoko, for defamation. The Court, Presided by Justice Kayode Agunloye handed out the order while delivering judgement on suit number CV/1346/2022 instituted by Mr Okpoko against Mr Ihemeje. The suit followed a series of posts on Facebook made by the defendant (Ihemeje) accusing the claimant (Okpoko) of fraudulently defrauding members of the public of millions of naira through some ponzi schemes. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Abia State has been selected as one of the five pilot states to benefit from the Nigeria Solar for Health Programme, an European Union, EU-sponsored initiative targeted at providing solar powered lights to health institutions in the state. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has threatened to seal markets or shops if they continue to observe sit-at-home on Mondays. Soludo gave the warning, Monday, while addressing traders at Onitsha Main Market during his visit to inspect commercial activities in the area. Soludo, who keenly observed activities in the area, said he would be visiting the Market every Monday to inspect business activities, emphasising that any shop or plaza that does not open on Mondays henceforth because of sit-at-home, would be sealed for one week, or even up to one month, as the case may be.…
Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has been urged to consider constructing infrastructures as the Ekwulobia Flyover in Nnewi, the industrial city of the state. A former banker, Chief Eusebius Onyemelukwe, made the call after paying a visit to the project on an on-the-spot assessment of the bridge. He said the facility would assist in boosting commerce and industry potential of Nnewi town. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), says it plans to establish Plastic Waste Collection Centers aimed at achieving environmental cleanliness in the institution. Professor Christian Ezeibe, Director Youth Friendly Resource Center UNN, disclosed this while speaking on the recent Green Rising Environment held in the University. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Scores of leaders, women and youths of Ezinano Community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State reportedly escaped death over disputed land in the area. The land tussle was between people of the community and Umuzuocha community, both in the same council area.
