Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, has fixed the conduct of the local government election in the state for July 20, 2024. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia No fewer than 118 inmates escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Ikengaonline can authoritatively report. The incident occured Wednesday night following a heavy downpour that wreaked havoc on the facility. Spokesperson, Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Adamu Duza, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. He noted that the downpour caused severe damage to the custodial centre’s infrastructure, including a breach in the perimeter fence, which allowed the inmates to flee. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Government has begun activities towards flood control with massive desilting of drainages across Awka metropolis. The exercise held in readiness of the rainy season was carried out by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, an agency of the state government.
