Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Super Eagles of Nigeria Friday, defeated the Black Stars of Ghana 2:1 in their first international friendly after the African Nations Cup with former coach, Jose Peseiro. In the friendly played in Moroccan city of Marrakech, Cyril Dessers and Ademola Lookman were the two goalscorers for Nigeria. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The abolition of pension for former Governors and their Deputies in Abia State by Gov. Alex Otti, has received the backing of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo who visited Otti on Friday in Abia, described the repealed law as “rascality and daylight robbery.” The Otti- led Government sponsored the Executive Bill abolishing the former pension law. Ikengaonline had reported that the bill after an accelerated hearing, was passed by the House of Assembly on Tuesday, and assented to by Gov. Otti Thursday night. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Police in Ebonyi State on Friday said its operatives raided the camp of hoodlums terrorising the state killing three of them and arresting five others. A statement by the Spokesperson of the command, Joshua Ukandu, said the raid was carried out in conjunction with other security agencies in a forest located at Omini community in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State. He said the gunmen on sighting the security operatives opened fire which led to a shootout during which three of the gunmen were neutralised. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Troops of Sector 2 (Ebonyi) of the Joint Task-Force “Operation UDO KA” have conducted a raid on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) Camp located at Mgbalukwu in Inyimagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi. Lawrence  Nwimo, Awka A middle-aged man, Onuora Innoma, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State. Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed this to newsmen in Awka, Thursday, noting  that the suspect has admitted to the crime during interrogation. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Thursday night, assented to a bill stopping former Governors of the state and their Deputies from receiving pension. The bill known as the “Abia State Governors and Deputy Governors Pensions (Repeal) Law, 2024,” was passed into law by the State House of Assembly on Tuesday. Ugo Nosiri, Owerri Imo state Governor Senator, Hope Uzodimma, has reappointed Chief Cosmas Iwu as Secretary to the Government of Imo State; Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie as Chief of Staff; and Sydney Agbo as Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations.
