Director of Public Health, Abia State Ministry of Health, Dr Princess Agomoh, who disclosed this while delivering talks during the 2024 Sickle Cell Day celebration in Umuahia, decried the high incidence of the preventable genetic disorder in the country. …Payment to take immediate effect Ben Ezechime, Enugu Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the sum of N80,000 as minimum wage for Enugu State workers with immediate effect. The governor stated this when he received the report of the committee set up to look into the minimum wage issue in the state. “Today, I’m happy to announce a new minimum wage for workers in Enugu State, reflecting our fidelity to their welfare in regards of which we’ve been resolutely committed. “We’ve approved the sum of N80,000 to take immediate effect as the new minimum wage in Enugu State.”…
Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Professor Humphrey Nwosu, former National Electoral Commission (NEC) Chairman from 1989 to 1993, has passed away aged 83. He reportedly died in a hospital in Virginia, USA. His death occurred months after the House of Representatives urged President Bola Tinubu to honour him for his role in conducting what is considered the most credible presidential election in Nigeria’s post-independence history. Then-military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida, had appointed Nwosu to oversee the June 12, 1993 election. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Government, Thursday, began the demolition of shanties and makeshift shops to clear major roads in Awka, the capital city. The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) carried out the exercise, targeting illegal structures and makeshift shops obstructing free flow of traffic in key areas of Awka, Anambra State. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The last has not been heard about report of the tragic death of a 26-year-old man who had received a visa to travel abroad and sought fortification at the native doctor’s shrine before his journey. Unfortunately, while testing the fortification medicine prepared for him by a native doctor he died in the process.
