Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Ebonyi State Police Command has paraded over 18 suspects arrested over alleged kidnappings, attacks on police stations, and killings of police officers. Commissioner of Police, Faleye Olaleye, while parading the suspects on Friday said the arrest of the suspects came through intelligence-driven and community-based policing in the state. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Abia State Task force on Waste Management, has announced tough measures and sanctions against violators of guidelines on waste disposal with effect from July 1. Head of the Task force, Mr Ogbonnia Okereke, who disclosed this at a press briefing Friday in Umuahia, said the Task force would no longer tolerate any conduct capable of frustrating the on-going efforts to clean up the state. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Governor Alex Otti has announced the suspension of the State Head of Service, Sir Onyi Nwama, and all Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service. The Governor in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, appointed Lady Joy Maduka, as the Acting HoS. Ben Ezechime Enugu The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, has condemned the return of insecurity in parts of the state. The council made the condemnation in a communique at the end of its June 2023 Congress in Enugu. In the communique signed by the Secretary of Council, Mrs Ifeoma Amuta, the council said it was worrisome that the state has returned to the dark days of insecurity. Some workers who pleaded not to be mentioned told Ikengaonline that they had received their June salary as promised by Gov Otti.
