Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has lamented what he called “strange delay” in transmitting his case file from the Supreme Court to the Federal High Court. Recall that the apex court had on December 15, 2023, refused to affirm earlier court judgments ordering Kanu’s unconditional release, but ruled that he could be arraigned before the Federal High Court to answer to counts of charge against him. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Abuja based Lawyer and former state chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi State, Silas Onu, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next month’s bye-election for Ebonyi South senatorial zone. The Chairman of the electoral Committee, Lekan Rotimi declared that Mr Onu garnered 143 votes out of the 144 votes cast while one vote was declared invalid. Justice John Okoro reserved the judgment after the parties adopted their briefs of argument on Monday. Recall that the Court of Appeal in Lagos had earlier affirmed the election of Francis Nwifuru as the duly elected governor of Ebonyi State.
