Ben Ezechime, Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has lost his bid to go to the Senate after his eight years tenure as governor. In the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday February 25, 2023, Ugwuanyi contesting on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost to Barrister Okechukwu Ezea of Labour Party (LP). Head Voter Education and Public Enlightenment in the state, Mrs Rebecca Jim, who disclosed this in Umuahia, said that the Abuja headquarters of the commission, gave the counter  directive.
