Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Abia North Political Project Group, Wednesday,  adopted the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Alex Otti, as its consensus candidate. The endorsement is coming barely four months after the group had adopted Bishop Sunday Onuoha as its consensus governorship candidate. Addressing a press conference in Umuahia, the group cited lack of preparedness on the part of  Onuoha as reason for the withdrawal of its earlier endorsement of his candidacy. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will on Thursday, begin the disbursement of sensitive materials in Abia State. Head Voter Education and Public Enlightenment, Mrs Rebecca Jim, who disclosed in a chat with Ikengaonline Wednesday at the INEC office, Umuahia, said that commission was fully prepared for the Saturday presidential and national assembly elections. She said that non-sensitive materials had already been deployed to all 17 Local Government Areas in the state. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Police in Anambra State said they had launched investigation into the alleged discovery of a bag full of Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, inside a forest in the state. The bag containing large number of PVCs was said to have been discovered inside the forest by a hunter  in Akamili community,  Nnewi, Anambra State. According to the police, the discovery was made on Tuesday and later taken to the premises of a popular radio station, Authority FM. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Senate Chief Whip and Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has come under fire  for saying that Nigeria is not yet ready for a President of Igbo extraction. Media Rights Agenda (MRA) has established a hotline for journalists who come under attack during the 2023 elections, the organisation announced Wednesday, saying the facility would enable such journalists to receive support, guidance about their rights and available safety mechanisms, as well as litigation assistance, should that become necessary to enforce their rights.
