Lawrence Nwimo, Awka The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP) has reported that no fewer than 31 suspects have been arrested for engaging in the business of human trafficking in Anambra State. It also said about 93 victims of trafficking have been rescued since its commencement of operation in the state in 2021. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, has assured residents of improved security in Anambra State especially during this yuletide season. Dada gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. The GOC said the visit was to discuss potential collaboration on the security front, and to strengthen the synergy between the Army and civil administration. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Peter Chukwu, had called on the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, to speed up process for the creation of a new Diocese in the State. This is as the Diocese is is set to build a 6,000 capacity cathedral. The governor said the budget christened ‘Budget of Disruptive Economic Growth” was structured to propel growth and bring about a paradigm shift in the way things were done in Enugu State. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has earmarked an ambitious 33 per cent in 2024 budgetary allocation, which amounts to N134.5 billion, to the education sector of the state. It is recorded that Enugu State under Gov. Mrs Amuche Anoliefo, from Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area, gave birth to a set of four babies at Referral Health Centre, Awgbu, same day that Mrs Ujunwa Edeh, who hails from Ehamufu, Enugu State, but resides in Ufuma with her family, gave birth to triplets at the community health centre.
