We are buffeted by rampant cases of terrorism, banditry and sectarian violence. Inflation is over 20 per cent, we became the poverty capital of the world, one of the most corrupt with one of the most inept leadership in the world. In a sense, we are to blame for the debilitating currency crises we find ourselves today which has further impoverished us. When we have…

By Austin Emaduku The Nigerian ruling class, the “owners” of  Nigeria, those who run the nation like the boardroom of a conglomerate have once again sounded the “drums of war.” This time, the drum is in the form of what has become the currency redesign and swap imbroglio. As usual, ever gullible Nigerians, not seeing the woods for the trees have taken sides in the war. They have dug trenches, ready to claw at each others throats on the streets. The reality however, is that it is not war but subterfuge, a deflection carefully designed and calibrated to take our gaze…

By Okey Ndibe It is tempting to refer to Rufai Oseni, one of the co-hosts of Arise TV’s staggeringly popular “The Morning Show,” as the most fearless man on Nigerian TV. Yet, that description slightly misses the mark. True enough, Oseni is fearless in at least two ways. If you have ever watched his monologues, then you’re familiar with his slashing, take-no-prisoner’s style. It smacks of a master debater at the top of his game. He marshals his arguments, and the often-irrefutable facts that undergird them, with an orator’s flair. There’s also his signature interview mode. There’s little doubt that…
