Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia President Muhammadu Buhari, has forwarded the name of his Special Assistant on new Media, Lauretta Onochie, to the Senate for confirmation as Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. Onochie’s name was sent to the Senate along with other 15 nominees as members of the NDDC Board. Stephen Ukandu, with Agency Report President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, in Abuja, launched the new Naira notes designed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. The President expressed delight that the redesigned naira notes were locally produced by the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc. Buhari gave reasons for approving the redesigning of the currency notes, saying they are fortified with security features that make it difficult to counterfeit. Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has sacked the Vice Chancellor, Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, UAES, Umuagwo, Prof Patrick Egbule. Uzodimma relieved Egbule of his position through a statement issued to newsmen in Owerri, on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, SGI, Cosmas Iwu. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ebonyi State, Uchenna Orji, has faulted a claim by one firm known as Andrew Bishopton Nig. Limited and its partners, Mauritz Walton Nig Ltd, that they got order of the Court to garnish the accounts of Ebonyi State Government. Orji described the claim as shenanigans of fraudsters. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Two young men have been shot and their bodies riddled with bullets by gunmen suspected to be Ebuneagu operatives at Ekoli Edda, Afikpo South LGA of Ebonyi State.
