Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The victory of Gov Alex Otti of Abia State (Labour Party) at the March 18 governorship poll was Friday validated by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia. The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Okey Ahiwe; and his All Progressives Congress, APC counterpart, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, had approached the tribunal to challenge Otti’s victory.  Ugo Nosiri, Owerri The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has appealed to the clergy to use the pulpit to mobilise the electorate to turn out en masse in the November 11, governorship election in Imo State. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Government has distributed cheques worth one billion, five hundred and twenty four  million naira (N1,524,000,000)  to support four mission public schools in the state. Governor Soludo performed the function at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia in Awka. One of the benefiting schools, Salvation Army, got a cheque of sixteen million naira; Pentecostal Churches got forty million naira; five hundred and fifty million naira went to the Anglican Communion; while nine hundred and eighteen million naira went to the Catholic Church. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Friday struck out two of the motions in the application by High Chief Ikechi Emenike of the All Progressives Congress, APC, against the election of Gov. Alex Otti of the Labour Party. According to tribunal the relief sought by Emenike to set aside Otti’s victory based on the ruling of the Kano high Court that the Labour Party did not conduct primaries, amounted to an attempt to amend his original application.
