Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has awarded contracts worth over N18 billion for the construction of a flyover and roads in some parts of the state. Top on the list of projects included in the separate contracts are the construction of a flyover at Ekwulobia as well as six roads in Awka, the state capital and Oye Agu Abagana respectively. Observing the absence of adequate water resources to support growing agricultural pressure in northern Cameroon, the government of Ahmadou Ahidjo decided to build a dam on the Benue River which would supply hydro-power to the region and allow for the irrigation of 15,000 hectares of farmland.
