Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri The Imo State Government on Monday said part of the benefits of having the Urashi River dredged to the Atlantic ocean is that it would reduce the effect of flooding currently ravaging the riverine communities of Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state. The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, stated this while fielding questions on a radio phone-in programme in Owerri, on the flood ravaging Imo communities. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Unknown persons on Monday morning set ablaze a section of Ezza North Local Government Area headquarters destroying valuable items and documents worth millions. Chairman of the local government, Ogodo Ali Nomeh, confirmed the incident to our reporter. This was captured when the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, led by the Team leader and Principal Site and Rescue Officer, Innocent Nwaeze, on Sunday conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the level of damage by the flood. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki A Chinese expatriate has reportedly been attacked and shot dead in Ebonyi State. Details of the attack were still sketchy as at the time of this report, but sources said the incident happened at a mining site at Iboko, in Izzi Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
