IPOB said that it is true that the suit by its Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, against the Federal Government is coming up for hearing at the Federal High Court Umuahia, on Tuesday, but it has not declared any sit-at-home on that day. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Human rights group, Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET), has launched an appeal to Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to consider the inclusion of the poor and the downtrodden in the state’s free health insurance scheme. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has claimed that the state chapter of Ebubeagu South-East Security Outfit have arrested a gang who were trying to smuggle arms into the State. According to him, the gang, suspected to be political thugs, disguised as security personnel with vehicles fitted with sirens. He said, they were, however, intercepted by Ebubeagu officials at 1am in the night and later handed over to the Police. Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Saturday, clarified that the Orashi River project had nothing to do with a seaport but only dredging of the river to Atlantic ocean. Uzodimma stated this in Owerri, through his State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, while reacting to a media report which stated that the presidency was not aware of a construction of a seaport in Imo. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for paying seven out of 24 months salary arrears owed doctors at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital Aba, ABSUTH. The association which also applauded the Governor for promising to pay a balance of two-month arrears every month until the entire backlog is wiped out, urged other states owing doctors to pay up.
