Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, forwarded a letter to the Nigerian Senate,  seeking  the screening and subsequent  confirmation  of the newly-appointed Service Chiefs. This was conveyed  in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate,  Senator  Godswill Akpabio. Consumers susceptible to cancer, kidney failure Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned Nigerians against the consumption of carbide-ripened fruits, saying they can cause cancer and heart,  kidney, and liver failures. Director General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye who gave the warning, also said fruits ripened with calcium carbide “may cause frequent thirst, irritation in the mouth and nose, weakness, permanent skin damage, difficulty in swallowing, vomiting, and skin ulcer.” The NAFDAC boss who stated this on Tuesday at the official flag-off of the agency’s media sensitisation workshop…

 Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki A Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Rev. Fr. Joseph Azubuike has been kidnapped by gunmen. The priest was reportedly kidnapped on Monday (yesterday). He was kidnapped alongside three other persons whose names could not be ascertained. He is the Parish Priest of St. Charles Parish, Mgbaleze Isu in Onicha Local Government Area of the state. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Former Minister of Aviation, and Senator who represented Anambra North, Stella Oduah, has landed into trouble as the Federal Government has sued her for allegedly lying over her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, discharge certificate. She was sued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at at the Federal High Court in Abuja, on eight counts of charge. The former Senator was  accused of falsely claiming to have lost her NYSC certificate, among other alleged offences. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Ogun State candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in the 2023 poll,  Ladi Adebutu, and five others, have been arraigned for alleged vote buying. The accused were arraigned before an Ogun State High Court sitting in Abeokuta although the governorship candidate was arraigned in absentia. Ikengaonline learned that the ruling  All Progressives Congress, through its Ogun State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police over the allegation.
