Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Activities at the four campuses of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) were completely crippled on Thursday as all workers in the institution embarked on indefinite strike. The University Joint Action Committee locked all the entrance gates to the campuses and placed an inscription on them announcing to staff, students and visitors that they were on strike. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Government has vowed to scale up efforts at stemming the tide of child trafficking, child abuse, and other crimes against children in the State. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has said it will soon embark on massive enforcement of compulsory insurance cover for residents of the South-East geopolitical zone. Mr Cliff Chukwuani, Head, South-East Zonal Office, NAICOM, said this in Enugu, adding that the idea was one way of making the people of the region to register for insurance cover. Chukwuani added that the enforcement was part of its core mandate to ensure that Nigerians abide by its compulsory insurances as stipulated under Insurance Act 2003. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia British Senior Court of Appeal Judge, Lord Justice Lewis, has granted permission to the family of the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to appeal an unfavourable court judgment against the British Government. Kanu’s family had earlier sued the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO for abandoning Kanu, a British citizen who was “abducted and illegally renditioned from Kenya and detained illegally in a solitary confinement since 2021.” But a British High Court in an unconventional ruling on 23 March 2023, dismissed the Kanu family’s claim for judicial review of the…
