Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Immediate-past elected Councillors in Abia State, have written to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, demanding payment of their severance package, sitting and constituency allowances before the expiration of his tenure on May 29. The ex-lawmakers also demanded payment of their swearing-in allowance, wardrobe allowance, car/transport allowance, and furniture allowance. These were contained in their open letter to the Governor made available to newsmen on Thursday. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka The Bayelsa State Oil & Environmental Commission (BSOEC) has submitted a report seeking  an end to environmental pollution and unfriendly oil exploration practices in the state. Ben Ezechime, Enugu A District Governor of Rotary International Club, Mrs Grace Okaro, has said that the club sponsored 16 surgeons and two volunteers from India to assist the less-privileged patients in Enugu State at no cost. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has condemned the killing of four staff members of the US Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday. Ikengaonline reported that the convoy of the US officials was ambushed on Atani-Osamale road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra. The attack led to the killing of four people including two staff and two police officers while two police officers and a driver were abducted. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday, adjourned plenary indefinitely over fears of a possible impeachment plot by some lawmakers. Mr Gbajabiamila, who presided over plenary after weeks of recess, called for an adjournment over speculation of his impeachment. He hinged the adjournment on the current induction by members-elect. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has called for more private sector enrollment as in the programme to achieve better healthcare for Nigerians. The Director General of the Authority, Prof. Mohammed Sambo, made the call on Wednesday at a Stakeholders Consultative Meeting held in Enugu. Our Reporter, Abuja Former President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and former Prelate of Methodist Church, Dr Sunday Mbang has died. He was aged 86. The news of his death was conveyed in a statement signed by the Secretary of Conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Rt. Revd Dr Babatunde Taiwo. The statement said that the first black president of the world Methodist council died on Tuesday, 16th May 2023.
