By Owei Lakemfa Belgian King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Prime Minister Alexander De Croo paid a six-day visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, from June 7, 2022, on what should have been a pilgrimage of repentance for some of the most unspeakable atrocities ever visited on humanity. King Philippe should have bowed his head in shame, be remorseful and apologise for the genocide the Belgian Monarchy visited on the DRC, the follow up brutal colonialism and subjecting the Congolese and by extension, the African, to some of the most outrageous treatment of a people in human history. Investigations across the zone revealed some complaints by registrants against INEC staff. Apart from the widespread bureaucratic bottlenecks that are slowing the registration process across the South-East, there are also allegations that some INEC officials now collect money to move their machines to other locations, and from individuals to get them registered. Abia-based political activist and businessman, Mr Chukwuebuka Ezennaka, alleged that he went to a registration…

However, as the crowds of intending voters swell in the various registration centres, official INEC weekly CVR Updates for the zones do not seem to reflect this noticeable upsurge of new registrants as the Southeast firmly remains at the basement of the Table of newly registered voters week after week. In…

By Ikem Okuhu It is obvious that the Catholic Church in Nigeria has lost the fight to rein in one of their most vocal evangelists in the South-East, who has carved a niche for himself as the champion in the very profitable area of prophetic political evangelism. I do not know just yet how this failure will impact the largest Christian denomination, whose strongest demand for its priests is unquestioning obedience, but it does not look good, considering how the fiery, often controversial sermons of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has negated the letters and precepts of the Catholic faith and the…
