The Aide, known as Machiavelli Ụzọ, is the Coordinator of Ohaozara Development Center in Ohaozara Local Government Area. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Barely seven days to the deadline for the new naira notes to take effect across Nigeria, residents of Enugu have lamented the non-availability of the new notes in the state. A survey by Ikengaonline in parts of the city shows that many POS outlets, even Banks do not have the new N200, N500 and N1000 notes to dispense to customers. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia No fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead and 16 hospitalised following the outbreak of cholera in Abia State. The deadly disease was reported at Ohuhu Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state. According to a community source, the outbreak was as a result of the alleged contamination of a local river which is the community’s only source of water. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Police in Ebonyi on Monday said it has arrested 26 persons in connection with the crisis and killings of December 26, at Ekoli-Edda Community in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state. They noted that 14 of the arrested suspects will soon be charged to court. One of the suspects arrested, Nnamdi Omeoha, is said to be a member of Ebubeagu Security outfit. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Registrants for the Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, in Abia State, have expressed frustration and disappointment over the delays in accessing their PVCs at the various offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, across the state. The INEC collection centres were overcrowded by registrants scrambling for their PVCs but some of them were embittered that despite waiting for long hours, they were still unsuccessful. INEC has insisted that the January 29 deadline for collection of PVCs is sacrosanct.
