Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has suspended tax payments for heavy duty loading and offloading in the transport sector. The State Government, transport operators, and other key stakeholders met at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center in Awka to brainstorm and agree on the new modalities. Governor Soludo also approved weekly payments applicable to tricycle (keke), shuttle buses and other transport operators. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Mr Anietie Idim, Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Enugu State Command, has said that the command arrested 134 suspects in 2022 for trafficking on illicit drugs. Idim disclosed this at a press briefing on the achievements of the command in 2022, adding that the agency also seized 1,515.301kg of illicit drugs in the state within the same period. According to him, the suspects include 129 males and five females. Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri Three suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have been killed while an officer was wounded in a gun battle between the pro-Biafra group and operatives of the Imo State Police Command. The incident took place at Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area.
