Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi; former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso; former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; are among the leaders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, who are currently protesting in front of the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Abuja.
The peaceful protest tagged “Save Nigerian Democracy” according to its leaders, is against the derecognition of the David Mark-led NWC of the ADC by INEC over alleged leadership crisis, and the plot to destroy Nigerian democracy by foisting a one-party system in the country.
Peter Obi in an X post earlier on Wednesday had called on Nigerians to join the ADC mobilisation to protest INEC’s alleged biased decisions, which could destroy democracy in the country.
“We, members and leaders of the ADC, and other well-meaning Nigerians, lovers of democracy, are saying that our democracy must not be killed. We say NO to a one-party system and for that today we’re calling out Nigerians who believe in unity, peace, and security of our country to join us as we defend democracy in our land.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO,” Obi stated.
