The body of kidnapped lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka, has been found at a bush near 2nd Niger Bridge, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Recall that Azuka was kidnapped on 24th December, 2024, along Ugwunabakpa Road Inland town Onitsha.
Sources said the body was already in a decomposing state when it was recovered near 2nd Niger Bridge, Wednesday night.
“A combined Security Team has found the decomposing Corpse of Hon Justice Azuka (House of Assembly Member, representing Onitsha North Constituency 1) at 2nd Niger Bridge.
“He was kidnapped on 24th December, 2024 along Ugwunabakpa Road Inland town Onitsha. This is Most sad and tragic. What a huge loss.
“The Combined Team from Abuja have arrested the culprits that kidnapped and killed him. They were arrested very late last night.
“The Kidnappers went and showed the security men where they dumped the corpse,” the source said.
A statement released by the Police spokesperson in Anambra, SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the development, adding that investigation is still ongoing for possible arrests.
“In the early hours of today, 6/2/2025 at the second niger bridge, the Joint Security team comprising of Police and AVG Operatives on a mission to rescue abducted Hon. Azuka, Honourable State House of Assembly member representing Onitsha North, regrettably found his lifeless body at the scene.
“As soon as I get more details, I will keep you updated, as the joint security team have taken over the scene and operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved, please.”
The killing marks the second time Anambra has lost a House of Assembly member to kidnappers after their kidnap under the present administration in the State.
