The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to release the cost of its nomination forms for various offices and the schedule for the primaries.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Felix Morka, stated this on Wednesday, just as he denied the online reports that the Presidential Convention for the party had been slated for end of the month.
Morka, addressing the media after the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) members, said they have commenced discussions on the schedule of the primaries but were yet to conclude.
Asked to speak on the meeting of the NWC and the rumoured schedule of primaries, he said, “today the 6th of April 2022, the NWC of the APC met and we just rose from that meeting. Amongst other topics that were covered was as you probably expected; we discussed the program for our party primaries, looked at the schedule of activities that are to come. But l am not able to give you a run-down of the details of that schedule because that is still in discussion. We are yet to conclude on definite timetable or schedule for our primaries. But l can confirm that we did have that conversation today. At least we did begin that conversation today, but we have not concluded and have not made any decision. That is what l can convey to you.”
Denying the online reports (not from Ikengaonline) of the schedule of the party primaries, he said, “l can confirm that we had discussions, but we have not made any decisions, so l am not aware of anything that is trending because we have not put out any information.
“Well, we have not put our any information to the public space about the schedule for our primaries. But what l am confirming to you is that we had that discussion, and that discussion is still in progress and as soon as the details are concluded, and a decision is made you will be the first to hear about it.
Asked what the position of the party on the resignation of ministers and other government appointees based on the electoral act, he said, “You know the ministers are members of the party and the party is the party. Now both the ministers and other appointees and the party leadership have excellent counsel and guidance and l am sure that everyone involved intends to comply fully to the letters of the electoral act.”
