The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Anambra State Chapter, has called on the relevant authorities to ensure the prosecution of the alleged killer of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu.
NAWOJ expressed shock and anger over the questionable circumstances surrounding Osinachi’s death and demanded an end to violence against women and girls.
In a release signed by its State Chairperson, Comrade Franklyn Onyekachi, NAWOJ Anambra State chapter, lamented that domestic violence had claimed yet another one of the state’s shining stars.
According to the release, while NAWOJ hates divorce, it advised that women should separate from a wife batterer as it is better to be alive and separated from a beast of a husband than to be brought home dead.
It called for a speedy trial and prosecution of late Osinachi’s husband to serve as a deterrent to others, who are walking that heinous path.
The statement reiterated that no woman should continue to stay in a marriage where her life is under threat.
NAWOj mourns the untimely demise of this young inspiring and resourceful amazon, who had been a blessing to the Christendom through her inspirational worship songs.
