The former Chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Area, Apostle Romanus Okoli, has passionately appealed to the abductors of Ukpor based politician, Uzozie Chukwujekwu, to release him immediately.

The appeal was contained in a press release signed by the former LGA Chairman made available to journalists on Sunday.

Apostle Okoli described the abducted person as his bosom friend and served under him in the council noting that Chukwujekwu is currently the Vice President of Ukpor Improvement Union (UIU).

He said that “Chukwujekwu is a very amiable person who cannot hurt a fly and that the abductee is a pillar of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Umuohama Ukpor, and the wife is the Women’s Guild President.

“He is a struggler just like any other average Nigerian. He was a teacher before venturing into petty business acting as a distributor of agricultural equipment, poultry feeds before he ventured into poultry and crops farming and fishery just to make ends meet,” Apostle Okoli noted.

The former Council boss pointed out that the abducted politician turned trader had his business office at Afor Nnobi and shuttles between Ukpor and Nnobi everyday just to put food on the family table.

“Since his relocation to Ukpor on his appointment as a Special Adviser (SA) to Chairman of Nnewi South LGA in 2002, he has been contributing his quota to the growth and development of his Ukpor community and has been of service to his people,” he said.

Apostle Okoli while stressing the need for the abductors to release Chukwujekwu, noted that releasing him has become imperative so that he can go and take care of his only son who was receiving treatment in the hospital due to gunshot injury he sustained in the stomach during the attack.
