Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has been sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.

His has replaced former CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, who resigned on health grounds.

Fourteen out of the 14 Justices of the Supreme Court had last week written a petition against the former CJN who they accused of toying with their welfare package.

They threatened to take a further action if the former CJN failed to take urgent action to remedy the situation.

Ikengaonline reports that Justice Ariwoola is the third person to be sworn in as CJN by President Buhari since he came to power in 2015.

Justice Walter Onnoghen was forced to resign before Buhari’s second term following allegations of financial misconduct.
