The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, has reportedly resigned his position on health grounds. 

Reliable sources informed Ikengaonline that the embattled CJN has been facing undisclosed illness for over a year now. 

The tradition in the Judiciary has been that the most senior Supreme Court Justice will be recommended by the National Judicial Council to the President to be appointed the next CJN. 

Ikengaonline further learns that the most senior Supreme Court Justice in this case is Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
