Former Governor of Anambra State and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has strongly condemned the posting of his photo on a Muslim praying mat allegedly by one of his support groups.

Obi who made the condemnation in his Twitter handle expressed his displeasure over the viral photo, saying that he does not believe in ridiculing any religion.

The viral photo is considered provocative among Muslim faithful and some social media commentators who have not hidden their anger over the action.

Obi expressed his displeasure over the action of those who posted the viral photo, saying he never sanctioned the action.

The Labour Party flag bearer said that he would never mock any religion, ethnic group, or gender.

Obi who took to his Twitter handle wrote: “The inclusion of my picture on the praying mat by a support group was misguided, even with the best of intentions. It didn’t emanate from my campaign team. I have deep respect for the Muslim faith and indeed, for every other religion.”

“We will never mock any faith, ethnicity or gender. We are one Nigeria. -PO.”
