The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) on Monday in Lagos held the maiden edition of the Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE).

A statement by the Head, Public Affairs Unit, Digital Bridge Institute, Mr Akin Ogunlade, said that the event was aimed at promoting the four focus areas of the National Policy on the Promotion and lmplementation of lndegenous Contents (NPPIC).

Ogunlade named the four focus areas to include Manufacturing, Service and Software, People, Research and Development for innovation.

He said that the policy was in line with the Presidential Mandate to diversify the economy.

According to him, the event focused on bringing together all stakeholders in the communications value chain.

“It also serves as a platform where practicable ideas and solutions could be birthed for the purpose of stimulating demand and supply of indigenous solutions, technologies, capacity building, amongst others.

“It was also designed to support the development of new businesses and partnerships to benefit indigenous content in the telecoms value chain, while enabling networking with various industry professionals,” he said.

He described the exhibition as an avenue where all categories of stakeholders converged to discuss ideas and solutions as well as showcased their indigenous products and services.

He said that the exhibition was an opportunity provided by the NCC for indigenous operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, policy makers, innovators, influencers, industry leaders, startups, academia and global experts to showcase their products and services, innovative solutions and new technologies.

Ogunlade named dignitaries that attended the event to include Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, Chairman Board of Commissioners of the NCC, Prof Adeolu Akande and the President, Digital Bridge Institute, Prof. Engr. Mohammed Ajiya.

Others are the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO NCC., Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State among others.

The theme of the NTICE 2022 was ‘Stimulating the Development of Indigenous Content through Innovation & Commercialization.’
