Anambra State Government, in partnership with European Union Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (EU ROLAC) has inaugurated members of Anti-Corruption Committee drawn from different ministries in the state civil service.
Inaugurating the eighty-four member committee over the weekend, in Awka, the state Head of Service, Barr Theodora Igwegbe, urged them to live up to expectations, as the fight against corruption must be won.
She reminded members of the Anti-Corruption Committee that each of them was carefully chosen to ensure that corrupt practices were totally eradicated from the civil service.
Barrister Igwegbe who is also the Chairman of the Steering Committee of Anti-Corruption Committee, said it behooved on members of the committee to ensure that corrupt practices were reported for necessary punitive measures against perpetrators.
He assured EU ROLAC that the programme would be sustained in Anambra because the State Government had zero tolerance for corrupt practices.
In her remark, the state coordinator of EU ROLAC, Mrs. Josephine Onah, outlined functions of the group to include working towards eradication of indiscipline and corrupt practices within the service, noting that with drastic reduction in corruption, the state would become first choice investment destination, and a one-stop shop for investments.
She admonished members of the Anti-Corruption Committee to eschew any form of compromise, and encouraged them to always follow organisational framework in resolving issues.
