Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Saturday said the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, would be in the state on Tuesday to inaugurate two economic roads, the completed Owerri-Orlu Road and phase 1 of the Owerri-Okigwe Road as well as the refurbished State House of Assembly Complex.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.

He said: “You know the President is coming to Imo State on Tuesday. This is the third time the President is commissioning projects in Imo. Earlier he had commissioned the balloon-driven technology to control flood; Muhammadu Buhari Road; Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Bypass; and the Owerri-Port Harcourt Road.

“But this time around, it will be Owerri-Okigwe Road’s first phase; completed Owerri-Orlu Road, State House of Assembly Complex. The Orlu Road, particularly how the gully erosion at the Njaba River was defeated and controlled after past administrations tried but failed. The present government has fixed it. Under governor Hope Uzodimma, the Owerri-Orlu Road is 35 kilometres, it took the govt less than 2 years to fix the road.

“The administration is proud. The road cuts across more than six local government areas and It has enhanced the economic and social mobility of the people of the area.”

He continued: “What of the Owerri- Okigwe Road especially the bad spot at Ekemele Road in the  Akabo axis, which used to take 3 to 4 hours to pass, but now it takes 15 minutes to achieve that. Today, the residents are happy and economic activities moving forward.

“The House of Assembly used to have a leaky roof and the government took that bold step to put it in a functional state after it was abandoned. The House of Assembly is the image of the Government. It is now having a state-of-the-art building. A lot of  people are happy about this commissioning.”

On the issue of alleged threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Commissioner said: “There is no need talking about it. You will agree that when every President is visiting a state there is complete security. So there is security.”
