A Nigerian soldier identified as Saeed Sabo, of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu, has reportedly stabbed a middle aged man to death in Umuahia, Abia State, for demanding that the soldier pay for goods bought previously on credit before buying a new one.

The victim, Uchenna Offor hailed from Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.

According to eye witness, the soldier attached to a Chinese construction firm came to buy something on credit around Umuahia Railway station but the victim demanded payment for the previous credit purchase.

In the ensuing altercation, the suspect was said to have used the bayonet of his gun on the victim, stabbing him on the chest.

The eye witness said that the victim who slumped after he was stabbed was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he was simply certified dead on arrival.

“When the soldier came to buy something, he was asked to pay for the one he bought on credit the previous time. This did not go down well with the soldier.

“Then the soldier slapped the man who  grabbed  him  by the uniform, and before you know it, the soldier pulled the bayonet of his gun and stabbed him to death.

The body of the victim  has been deposited at the mortuary while the suspect has been handed over to the Police.

Confirming the incident, the Police PRO in charge of Abia State command,  Geoffrey Ogbonna, a Superintendent of Police, said investigations into the matter had commenced.
