The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday alleged that the presidential campaign vehicles of Atiku Abubarkar/Ifeanyi Okowa have been confiscated by suspected agents of the State Government.

PDP made this allegation in a statement it issued to newsmen in Owerri, through the state publicity secretary, Collins Opurozor.

The statement read in part: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has condemned in the strongest terms the brutal assault on our members and violent confiscation of the campaign vehicles belonging to our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, by agents of the infamous regime of Senator Hope Uzodimma in Imo State.

“Our Party, therefore, demands that the campaign vehicles of our presidential candidate, impounded by Senator Uzodimma’s agents at IMSAA, be released without any further delay.

“For five consecutive months, Senator Uzodimma and his henchmen have jettisoned all pretences of governance. They have instead openly deployed state resources and all the instruments of state power to intimidate, hound and attack prominent opposition leaders in the State.”

It also said: “The campaign office of our senatorial candidate in Owerri Zone, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha was attacked in broad daylight and sealed up in a gestation operation directly commanded by known appointees of the government. Ideato Federal Constituency was invaded in a warlike manner, and all the campaign billboards erected by our candidate, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, were vandalized by agents of this war-mongering government.

“Our Party notes that while all sectors of Imo State are now in tatters, the rudderless administration of Senator Uzodimma keeps wandering afar off on the path of self-destruction and political vendetta,” the PDP said.
