Business activities have begun to return to normal after news filtered in that unknown gunmen entered some areas of the city shooting sporadically.

In the New Market area of the city, there were reports that some hoodlums who tried to enforce sit-at-home order met stiff opposition from a patrol team of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

It was also reported that, a police patrol van was set ablaze by the gunmen after several minutes of Cross fire, though no official confirmation from the police at the time of going to the press.

Ikengaonline reports that, there was also unconfirmed reports of sporadic shootings at Agbani Road areas, especially Mayor and Garki mini-markets.

But the visit of our Correspondent to both Mayor and Garki shows that business activities have returned to these markets while intra-city transport services have peaked.

A trader in Mayor market told our Correspondent that, everything was calm now.

“There was commotion in the morning which forced many traders to close their shops,” she said.

An inter-state driver also told our Correspondent that life has returned back to normal.

“So, I am loading Okigwe and as you can see, passengers are almost full,” he said.

It would be recalled that, one Simon Ekpa had declared a 5-day lockdown in the South-East.

Different groups including Ohanaeze and IPOB have condemned the declaration.
