Ben Ezechime, Enugu

The Labour Party (LP) Governorship candidate for Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, has alleged that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is planning to pay N50,000 for each vote cast in its favour during the 2023 general election.

He said this while addressing party supporters at Izzi Ward 1, as part of his ongoing ward-to-ward campaign, in Igboeze North Local Government Area of the State.

Edeoga blamed the PDP for the high level of poverty, disease and lack of infrastructural development in the state in the last 23 years.

He said that the ruling PDP in the state had failed to build roads infrastructure, hospitals and to rehabilitate collapsed primary and secondary schools in the state.

“The worst of all is non-payment of gratuities and pensions to retired  state workers.

“This is man’s inhumanity to man, that a worker will serve his state meritoriously for 35 years and government can not pay pensions and gratuities, only to allow the person to die without reaping the fruit of his labour,” he lamented.

He assured the people that all these impunity will stop under his government if voted into office in 2023.

Edeoga further revealed that Local Government workers and Primary School teachers in the state, have not received their November and December Salaries because government is hoarding the money to buy votes in 2023 elections at the expense of the people.

“They have not paid local government workers and primary school teachers their November and December salaries.

“Ask those concerned, don’t let anybody deceive you by telling you that there is no money, the money is there.

“They are hoarding the money to buy voters in 2023. What they have budgeted for each voter is N50,000.

“If you collect N50,000 to vote for PDP in the coming election, you may have sold your future,” he said.

He urged the people to vote wisely in the interest of their children unborn.

He, however, told them to collect the money and vote for Labour Party.

“It is not their money; the money belongs to all of us; so, if they give you, collect and vote for all LP candidates,” he said.
