Suspected local Bandits in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State have blocked the road leading to Aguibeje community with trees thereby leaving commuters stranded and barring them from entering the community.

A reliable source who spoke to Ikengaonline on the condition of anonymity said that the people of the community were now cut off from the rest of their kith and kin in Enugu Ezike.

“These bandits caught trees to block the road and until now, no government or security agents has visited the area.

“For how long shall we continue to be isolated; these bandits can come and kill the whole community and no one will know,” he said.

Another resident, who volunteered his name as, Mr Godwin Omeke, lamented that the ongoing banditry in Aguibeje was becoming unbearable.

“We are now in fear. It is only God that can save us now. Aguibeje has fallen into the hands of bandits. Please, authorities should come to our aid,” he said.

According to him, the community has been paying different kinds of levies imposed by the bandits.

“So, now that they have blocked the access road to Aguibeje you can imagine what will happen,” Omeke said.

Ikengaonline reports that Aguibeje is one of the border communities with Kogi State with thick forests where members of IPOB/ESN and other suspected criminal gangs operate freely.
