No fewer than eight persons have been confirmed dead, and seven critically injured in a fatal road accident that occurred early Friday morning on Aba area of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
The auto crash involving a Toyota bus and a stationary truck happened around 6:00 am between Umueka and Aro Ngwa junction of the dual carriage highway.
According to eye witness account, the 14-seater bus conveying the victims was said to have rammed into a stationary tanker which broke down in the middle of the expressway.
An eye witness who spoke with Ikengaonline, blamed the incident on poor visibility as a result of early morning dews.
He said poor visibility was suspected to have caused the accident.
Decrying the tragic incident, he said that the wreckage of the bus was filled with the blood of the victims.
Meanwhile the Abia State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Paul Ugwu, has confirmed the incident describing it as very unfortunate.
He said that eight persons died and had been deposited at the Alanwenmadu mortuary around the vicinity while the injured ones were taken to Ronald Hospital Nkpuala and Living Word Hospital.
The FRSC boss appealed to motorists against over-speeding which he regretted, could lead to disastrous road crash.
