As the race to replace the deceased governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia hots up, a business mogul, Eric Opah, has said that he is the most qualified to fly the ruling party’s flag.

The founder, Fortune Global Shipping & Logistics Limited and Fortune Marine & Energy Services Limited, told Ikengaonline that he already has the nod of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu to go for the PDP ticket.

He said  that the PDP “needs someone who has proven track record, capacity, integrity and vast network to be the candidate of the party.”

“Based on these qualities, Opah is the right man for the job now,” he declared in a press release.

Opah who currently serves as the Chairman Nigeria-America Chamber of Commerce, Abia State Chapter, is equally an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IODN), the Founder of Eric Opah Foundation, the President Umunna-Nsulu Progressive Forum, and the President of Mbubo Transformation Group.

According to the release, Opah has consulted widely, with chieftains of the party who affirmed that he is in the right position both in character and capacity to pick the governorship ticket of the PDP after the painful demise of Professor Uche Ikonne.

The release read in part: “After proper consultation, the governor himself agreed with me and facilitated my picking the PDP gubernatorial form, so I see no reason why I will be stepping down for anyone.”

Opah said that “he is in the race to win and will win.”

He, therefore, urged PDP delegates to vote for him during the party’s fresh primary slated for Saturday, February 4.

Opah assured of equitable distribution of democracy dividends and even development of the state if elected.

“He will promote a state where citizens will trust each other and seek for the good of one another. He  will pursue vigorously a state where her resources will be used for the good of all where no community in Abia State will be left behind, where human capacity development will be paramount, accountability core mandate and where visitors will be proud to visit and visit again.”
