The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), says it has introduced a new product known as Accelerated Settlement of Arrears Project (ASAP).

This, according to the company, was designed to assist customers with outstanding arrears clear them while enjoying attractive discounts.

The Head, Corporate Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh, told newsmen on Sunday in Enugu that the new ASAP product of the company had some unique benefits to its customers in the South-East.

Ezeh noted that the uniqueness of the product was that it offers graded discounts, ranging from 25 per cent (for one-time payment); and 20 per cent (for three payments).

According to him, there is also graded discount of 35 per cent (for debts of five years and above), and appeals to only Non-Maximum Demand (NMD) customers.

“To benefit from this programme/product, the customer’s account must not have benefited from any previous discount scheme offered by EEDC and the arrears have to be within the period before January 1, 2023.

“In addition, customers must have subscribed to MAP metering, with Demand Note issued, as a conscious way of ensuring that debts are not allowed to accrue further.

“This initiative is introduced by EEDC to relieve its customers of some debt burden, considering the very challenging economic situation in the country,” he said.

“The EEDC spokesman enjoined customers and members of the public that want to make further clarification and enquiries to visit the ASAP Officer at the EEDC District Offices responsible for their area.

“It would be recalled that on December 31, 2022; EEDC ended its Arrears One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), a related initiative targeted at its customers with outstanding arrears.
