A socio-cultural group, Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF) has called for the immediate release of Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate in Lagos State, Chief Frederick Nwajagu.

The group accused security agencies of preferential treatment by arresting the Igbo leader and leaving those who they claimed triggered off the attacks, maiming and killing of Ndigbo in Lagos during the just concluded general election.

The group, through its president, Dede Uzor A. Uzor said members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), like Femi Fan-Kayode, spokesperson of Bola Ahmed Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, MC OLuomo and co-travellers should first have been arrested.

It urged President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve Director General of the State Service, DSS, Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, and Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, their duties for alleged abuse of office, compromise of their official duties, ethnic bigotry, sectionalism, among others.

The Igbo body lamented that it was obvious that Ndigbo are not needed in Nigeria, hence the deliberate policies of Federal and some state governments are targeted against them and their property.

It noted that apart from the maiming and killing of Ndigbo and the arrest of Eze Ndigbo in Ajao Estate, no fewer than three markets belonging to Igbos have been burnt down this period in Lagos and no individual or groups has been brought to justice.

It wondered why the DSS, the Police and the Nigerian Army would advertise themselves to this arson but were quick to arrest Eze Ndigbo in Ajao Estate, is it because he’s an Igbo man?

According to them, the security apparatuses would become too weak when the likes of Onanuga, Fani-Kayode, MC OLuomo and others who incited the Yorubas against Igbos are involved.

“It is very obvious that the Igbos are not wanted and that’s why they are treated as second-class citizens in the country.

“It is unfortunate that the likes of Mr MC Oluomo, the Park management chairman in Lagos State, Femi Fani Kayode, Onanuga, among others who vociferously cum despicable and allegedly called for the attack against Igbos in Lagos and threatened that anyone who doesn’t want to vote APC should not come out to vote have not been invited by security agents.

“The case of FFK is very pitiable and disgraceful because he remains an in-law to Ndigbo hence his ex-wife came from Abia state and has Igbo blood with a set of male triplets.

“Those who gave this unlawful order were ignored, while the persons who were killed are being persecuted.”

“We unequivocally demand his immediate and unconditional release forthwith and a public apology immediately tendered accordingly, or charge him to court if you found him culpable of violating any Nigerian law. Enough is enough.”
