After days of apprehension and tension, the incumbent Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Saturday supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State.
He was declared winner of the tension-soaked contest Tuesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The Returning Officer, Muhammed Melee, who declared Fintiri winner of the contest said he polled 430,861 votes to defeat his major challenger, Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress who scored 398,788.
Recall that INEC, Tuesday, resumed collation of results of the supplementary poll after suspending the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Hudu Ari, who had Sunday, usurped the powers of the Returning Officer by illegally announcing Binani winner of the election.
