Fear and apprehension have enveloped residents of Aba the economic capital of Abia State following the beheading of a police personnel by yet-to-be identified hoodlums.

The dastardly act took place in the wee hours of Wednesday around East Street, Ndiegoro area of the Enyimba City.

The victim was simply identified as Linus, an Assistant Superintendent of Police.

According to reports, the hoodlums attacked the police team at Tenant Road junction by East Street around 5:00am and killed the victim before beheading him.

Other cops on duty with the victim were said to have fled on sighting the hoodlums who reportedly opened fire at the police team.

The attackers were said to have escaped with their victim’s gun and uniform.

Ikengaonline, however, could not Independently confirm the incident as the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna did not pick calls put across to him.

Ndiegoro area of Aba has been a flashpoint for some years.
