Peter Mbah on Monday, May 29, took oath of office as the Executive Governor of Enugu State.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate was declared winner of the March 18, 2023, governorship election in Enugu State by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Governor Mbah, was the reviewing officer at the parade mounted by a detachment of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
In his inaugural speech, the new governor said his administration would among others, invoke the spirit of enterprise by pursuing an economic growth unrivalled in this part of the country.
“We will tap into the limitless resources of the private sector to provide world-class infrastructure and productive sector growth.
“We will retool and re-energise our agriculture/agro-allied sector. We will unlock our rural economy through the implementation Special Agro-allied Processing Zone.
“We also plan to provide a N100 billion revolving fund for our SMEs in partnership with the private sector and other development financing institutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, former governor Chimaroke Nnamani was unapologetically absent at the swearing-in ceremony.
Nnamani governed the state from 1999-2007, during which Mbah served as his Chief of Staff and later Commissioner for Finance.
However, unlike the previous swearing-in of his predecessors, the crowd that came to grace the inauguration was far from impressive.
